Cat in Space

The known is finite, the unknown infinite; intellectually we stand on an islet in the midst of an illimitable ocean of inexplicability. Our business in every generation is to reclaim a little more land.
Thomas Huxley · British naturalist and biologist (Darwin's Bulldog) On the Reception of the 'Origin of Species'

A tale about who is Darwin’s Cat and what is his mission.

Spoiler: he boldly goes where no Cat has gone before!!!

Back when the galaxy still had blank spots on the map and "profit" wasn’t a thing yet, curiosity, mutual help, and cooperation were the only real currency. That’s when the name Darwin’s Cat started popping up in spacer stories across every inhabited world — a mysterious creature addicted to new ideas. Some swear it was Tomcat hiding behind the legend. And yes: the rumor goes he had a soft spot for hard rock... and, according to the best-informed witnesses, even metal.

In outer space to the final frontier
In Higgs Ocean, I drink my milk beer
My real name is Darwin’s Cat
And my implants make me... so smart

Travel is long, but I’m still strong
My favorite guru was Darwin’s Bulldog
I’ve never believed in Gods and Fairies
And no Cat knows them... on Antares

My lovely space vessel was born in Space
My home was Earth, but my life here in race
I’m looking for a new civilization of Cats
And ship keeps in safe my brain... and my guts

I’m trying boldly go
Where no Cat has gone before

A hard-rock tale from an age when curiosity was the only currency worth carrying.

"Cat in Space" is a hard-rock tale of a cybernetic tomcat exploring deep space in search of a new feline civilization. Armed with implants and a soft spot for heavy guitars, he boldly goes where no cat has gone before.
