Darwin's Cat
I am Projection
I am not what happened to me, I am what I choose to become.
Carl Jung · Psychiatrist and psychoanalyst
Genes give us capacities. Environments influence how these capacities develop. But choices shape the trajectory
Steven Pinker · Cognitive psychologist and linguist

I am Projection

Art-rock music presentation of Richard Dawkins books "The Selfish Gene" and "The Extended Phenotype"!

The song is a dream of freedom, of traveling through the vastness of space, of becoming a true citizen of the cosmos by transforming oneself and redefining the way we journey among the stars.

It’s important to note that this vision has nothing to do with the delusions of a certain eccentric billionaire, Elon Musk, and his obsession with “dying on Mars”. From the looks of it, his dream seems less about personal sacrifice and more about delegating that fate to unpaid, expendable volunteers. This song is not about that.

Genes are blueprint of me
Context is plan for mind
I am a projection
When the world and genes combined
I can change myself
By controlling input stream
Chaotic information
Leads to brain from cream

I would like to construct
Spaceship to visit Mars
To visit ancient Mars
To visit the nearest stars
For this I should first
Reconstruct myself
I must organize my mind
Like knowledge on a bookshelf

To visit other planets
I need strong legs and arms
Plus a heat-resistant body
Plus replacements for my lungs
I need a strong power source
Not organic food.
I need a set of sensors
Plus X-ray vision aptitude

I am information
Collected by genes' pool
My genes build my brain
It’s genes' defensive tool
Brain is so complex thing
That he got its own free will
It can be chance of freedom
Or chance to make self kill

I would like to construct
Spaceship to visit Mars
To visit ancient Mars
To visit the nearest stars
For this I should first
Reconstruct myself
I must organize my mind
Like knowledge on a bookshelf
