EVA at Donau115 Berlin

EVA at Donau115 Berlin

We carried out another EVA toward the human sector.

Landing point: Donau115 Berlin, Earth, Solar System. The atmosphere was dense, oxygen present, and the local vibration level ran above average. Inside we found a lot of strange humanoids: some held wooden resonators, some sat there with the expression of deep inner space, and some were pouring rocket fuel into themselves while looking completely certain about it.

At first we thought the locals had split into two stable groups. The smaller group would periodically move to the microphone and start making organized noise. The larger group would listen, nod, clap, and support metabolism with liquid fuel of unknown octane nature.

Then the hypothesis collapsed. The groups mixed. Those who had just been listening suddenly appeared at the microphone. Those who had just been producing sound went back to the fuel zone. A classic nonlinear system with a variable observer role. People call it an open mic.

They extracted sound in different ways. They dragged bows across double basses and violins. They plucked guitars with their fingers. They blew into various tubes with their mouths, apparently hoping to negotiate directly with the atmosphere. Sometimes it sounded like music. Sometimes like a discussion with an ancient satellite that lost its manual a long time ago but still answers.

One local humanoid was reading something from a book. Another announced he had arrived from Washington, DC, apparently from a neighboring system, and that he sings blues. We logged that without comment: on this planet, stranger things are entirely possible.

At some point we decided that passive observation of human rituals had already delivered enough data. The EVA turned active. We plugged in the transmitters and told the locals a couple of stories from the galactic history of cat civilization: about Earth before the current version of humans, about those who managed to leave the cradle, and about the fact that deep space is not emptiness but a perfectly normal habitat for those who are not afraid to open the hatch.

The locals listened. Then they clapped. Then they even sang along. Some of them showed a mild cultural shock: widened eyes, a glitch in the standard facial operating system, urgent attempts to reassemble their worldview. Recovery procedures were carried out on site, using the same rocket fuel.

Contact confirmed successful. Humans are strange, but they do extract sound honestly. Donau115 is suitable for further observations.

Returning to the ship. Until the next EVA.
