LooperCat releases and changelog — what changed in every version

This page is the versions only: what each one added, fixed and changed, newest first. What the app itself does lives on the LooperCat page for the Boss RC-5.

Always grab the latest release: the app is still a beta, and what a new version fixes stays fixed.

  1. v0.9.5

    A setlist at one volume, MP3 with no detour

    • Loops pile up over months: one recorded at rehearsal, the next bounced straight out of a DAW. Each sits at its own volume — one whispers, the next one shouts. Normalize pulls the whole setlist to one mark: measured per ITU-R BS.1770, then one flat shift across the loop — to -18 LUFS. No compression: what was quiet inside the loop stays quiet. One slot — right-click. The whole setlist — select it, one command. New uploads level themselves once you tick the box. Nothing clips: a boost stops at a true peak of -1 dBTP, and a loop with a high peak honestly lands below the target. The original moves to the app's trash first — that is your undo.
    • MP3 no longer needs a trip through a DAW: drop it into a slot and it is a loop. AIFF, FLAC, Ogg — the same. The silence an MP3 encoder puts before the downbeat is bitten off on the way in, so the loop does not stumble at the seam. The decoder lives inside the app: on macOS, Windows and Linux it unpacks the same.
    • A setlist is handled in bulk: Cmd/Ctrl-click, Shift-click, Cmd/Ctrl-A — and the right-click menu works on all of them at once. The LUFS column shows which loop lives at which volume. An orange figure means Normalize can change that loop's volume. It counts in the background and stays out of your way.
    • The About window shows what the build is made of: every library with a link to its own release. Under it, a bowl — Feed the Cat.
    • Fixed. The player picks up a fresh upload right away: it used to hold the old loop until you clicked away and back. And a loudness reading is wiped along with the audio that changed under it — a figure from a different file no longer hangs around.

  2. v0.9.4

    Linux, mono downmix and output routing

    • Linux: an AppImage — chmod +x and run, nothing to unpack. The pedal's card is mounted through udisks2, the same service your file manager uses: no root, no setup, Connect and Disconnect work as they do on macOS and Windows.
    • Right-click a slot → Downmix to mono: left and right are averaged into one signal, and you pick where it goes — OUTPUT A, OUTPUT B or both. Loops into one amp, a live instrument into the other, nothing bleeding across. The stereo original moves to the app's trash first — that is your undo. The RC-5 has no pan of its own: the placement lives in the file, verified on real hardware.
    • Every upload now lands in the pedal's native 32-bit float. A 16-bit WAV used to slip through as-is — and the pedal quietly dropped it, loop and all. Not any more.

  3. v0.9.3

    The slot editor, any WAV, and Windows

    • A Properties pane under the table: a twelve-character name, tempo with its bar count, Play Count-In, one-shot. The pedal's memory editor has started — settings arrive one at a time, as each is verified against real hardware.
    • Any WAV goes in: converted on the way to the format the pedal actually wants, so a 24-bit / 48 kHz bounce straight out of your DAW becomes a loop.
    • Windows: a portable exe in a zip, no installer, no admin rights.

  4. v0.9.2

    The first release shaped by letters from RC-5 owners

    • The write counter in the memory file's trailer was read as a byte instead of 32 bits: pedals with a long saving history hit a permanent "trailer is malformed", and rename, one-shot and tempo changes were refused. One root cause — and it is cured.
    • A freshly recorded or freshly pushed loop plays in the preview right away, with no "not indexed yet" wall.
    • A preview volume fader in the player — and it is remembered.

  5. v0.9.1

    Connecting got more stubborn

    • Connect survives a lost frame: a retry and an honest timeout instead of silence.
    • The pedal disconnects itself when you quit the app.
    • Every banner has one owner now: dismissed means dismissed, and they stopped stacking.

  6. v0.9.0

    The first public release

    • LooperCat left the workshop: the repository is open, the macOS DMG is in the releases.
