Lafox Records

Lafox Records is the Berlin home studio of Darwin’s Cat. Every song from the band — from the first guitar take to the final master — is recorded here, by the two of us, since 2019.

It is a fully DIY setup. There is no outside producer, no session musicians, no rented engineering time. Alisa plays guitars and drums and sings; Oleh plays bass, writes the lyrics, and runs the recording and mixing. The arrangements are written together. The master is the last thing we ship — and only when it sounds like what we meant.

We learned recording the way most of our skills came together: by doing it, breaking things, and figuring out what worked. The trade-off is honest. Every release takes longer than it would somewhere with a proper team. In exchange, nobody else decides what a Darwin’s Cat song should sound like. The whole point of building the studio was so the answer to that question stays on this floor.
